About Elaine Low

Elaine joined Peter Low & Choo LLC in late 2014. Prior to 2014, Elaine had been mentored by Peter during internships which she had undertaken since 2007. As part of her training under Peter and with the firm, Elaine has assisted in high-profile public interest litigation and criminal litigation. Elaine has assisted in corporate advisory and drafting of agreements for local SMEs.

Additionally, Elaine has been assisting in the firm’s civil, commercial, and complex matrimonial litigation.

Elaine’s experience includes:

  • Assisting in the defence of the Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol-East Town Council in an application by the Ministry of National Development (2015 – 2016);

  • Assisting in the criminal defence of Brother Anthony Tan, the former principal of a prominent Singapore school and a member of a Catholic religious order, against a criminal breach of trust charge (2012 – 2013);

  • Assisting in the criminal defence of Tey Tsun Hang, a former NUS law professor in the so-called “sex-for-grades” corruption case (2012 – 2013);

  • Assisting in the criminal defence of an accused person involved in the so-called “Bras Basah rioting incident” (2015 – 2016);

  •  Assisting in the criminal defence of Johnson Chong, a director of public-listed company Airocean GroupLimited,  against charges of insider trading, reckless failure to disclose material information to SGX and making an announcement that was misleading in a material particular on SGXNET (2010);

  • Assisting in the defence of the former Chairman and Treasurer of the National Kidney Foundation respectively in both civil and criminal cases (2007);

  • Assisting in several High Court suits involving aviation contracts, employment and shareholder disputes and other contractual claims;

  • Assisting in contested and uncontested matrimonial proceedings for private clients, including proceedings with cross-border elements for both locals and expatriates;

  • Assisting in applications under the Mental Capacity Act;

  • Assisting in general probate matters; and

  • Assisting in the drafting of shareholder agreements, employment contracts and contracts for services.

Elaine believes in all-rounded personal growth and servant leadership. She was the Chairperson of the Class of 2014 at Law School and actively involved in school activities and school productions. Elaine continues to serve the NUS alumni as the Class Ambassador of the Class of 2014.

Professionally, Elaine serves on the Young Lawyers’ Committee of the Law Society of Singapore.

Elaine also believes that legal assistance should be readily accessible and thus volunteers with legal clinics.
